On January 10th, AB 593, (the “Sin by Silence Bill”), concerning the rights of incarcerated battered women, passed the California Public Safety Committee with a unanimous vote of YES! The bill now moves on to the Assembly and Senate to vote on this new legislation, which would give imprisoned domestic violence survivors a chance at freedom. 2012 STATEWIDE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CONFERENCE CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
New Amicus Brief Available for Review The Partnership has signed on to an amicus brief filed last week concerning the case of McRoberts vs. The Superior Courts of Los Angeles County. The brief concerns a case in which custody was transferred from one parent to the other, despite evidence of sexual abuse of two of the children. You can read the media advisory, here.
